Jaipur Executes The Biggest Literary Carnival Of Asia

Literary Festival

The famous Diggi Palace of Jaipur hosts the biggest literary carnival, ever conducted in Asia again for the fifth time. There will be around 200 writers from 30 countries, who will be gathered for the five-day get together.

There will be literary seminars, reviews and debates conducted for the program, in additional to the delightful musical performances.

The eminent authors who attend the meeting for the first time reveals that it is an amazing experience for them to attend the function. The British writer, Louise Doughty says that it is an occasion to refresh himself, both intellectually and emotionally. He also remarks that they should be selective in attending the events.

The famous writers, who participate the festival include Mahasweta Devi, Alexander McCall Smith, Devdutt Patnaik, Wole Soyinka, Roberto Calasso, Hanif Kureishi, Vikram Chandra, Louis de Bernieres. The Bollywood celebrities Rahul Bose, Shabana Azmi, and Ompuri also become a part of the gatherings. English movie maker, Stephen Frears also attends the festival.

The occasion is exceptional when it becomes a meeting place for the authors from different countries, cultures and languages.

The well-known author and poet Gulzar says that it provides the exceptional opportunity to communicate with the writers all over the world. Though there are numerous book fairs conducted in India, this becomes an outstanding one, adds Gulzar.

Around 100 writers and 20,000 visitors had attended yesteryear's celebration. It had made Jaipur, a famous tourist location on the literary map.
