Hippie Icon Receives French Honor
Donovan rose to fame in the 1960 giving hits like "Mellow Yellow", "Sunshine Superman" and "Jennifer Juniper". Currently he is working in collaboration with the French band, Variety Lab for their yet-to be released singles.
As reported by the BBC, the artist received the medal from French culture minister Christine Albanel during the ceremony held in Cannes. Donovan said that he was 'pleased' to be honored and receive the accolade.
He said: "I take it for all the work I've done over the years to bring poetry back to popular culture."To get an honour like this confirmed to me that it was successful, that my work was accepted on my terms, rather than becoming an entertainer," he said.
