paris hilton accepts the Harvard Lampoon's Woman of the Year award
The event saw a turn out of about a hundred screaming fans, who came to cheer Paris on as she accepted the award.
The award, which is given once in a while, is very much like the Harvard Hasty Pudding award as stated by Lampoon member Hayes Davenport, but it is "better than or equal to Woman of the Year."
"The choice was pretty easy when you think of who's had the most profound effect on our lives," People mag quoted 21-year-old Davenport as having said about the year's selection.
Looking very tan and radiant and arriving more than an hour late, 26-year-old Hilton accepted the silver urn-like trophy from the staff of the university's 132-year-old humour magazine.
Her fans, who had been braving the cold drizzle, still greeted her with cheers of "I love you, Paris!"
"Thank you all for coming," People mag quoted her as having said demurely.
"An international icon meets countless people every day," she began to say, obviously getting into the jokey nature of the gathering.
