Mixed response to Sanjay's interim bail relief
Mumbai, Aug 20 (UNI) Bollywood reacted cautiously to the interim bail granted to jailed Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt by the Supreme Court saying it was still anxious and keeping its fingers crossed.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhat, who is in Dubai, said," Interim bail means that he will be out of jail only for a few days. We are still anxious about the outcome of the regular bail application." Sanjay was sentenced to six years' rigorous imprisonment by the special TADA court in the serial Bombay bomb blasts case of 1993 on July 31. Since then, he has been lodged at the Yerawada jail in Pune.
Director Indra Kumar, whose Sanjay Dutt starrer 'Dhamaal' releases on September 7 expressed joy at the actor being granted temporary relief.
"Even though temporary, it is a relief for my friend and I am happy irrespective of the fact that it comes on the eve of my film's release. 'Dhamaal' is a comedy movie and despite all his personal tensions, Sanjay shot for the film and did a spectacular job. He is a true friend who stood by me," Indra Kumar added.
Sources close to the Dutt family said Sanjay's sister Congress MP Priya was in Delhi completing the paper work. Sanjay's other sister Namrata said the family would formally react only after Sanjay comes home.
