Sania proud of winning for country
Hyderabad, Dec 14 (UNI) Tennis star Sania Mirza, who brought laurels to India winning a Gold in mixed doubles and a Silver in women's singles in the ongoing Doha Asian Games, will now concentrate on Hopman Cup mixed team event to be held at Perth from December 30 to January 2, 2007.
Talking UNI, Sania who returned home here in the early hours today to a warm welcome said, 'It's bit sad to lose the Gold in the singles after entering the final.'' ''But I am satisfied with the Gold in the mixed doubles event and two silver medals in the singles and the team event,'' she said.
''Playing at Doha in front of so many expatriate Indians, I felt aaat home. I am happy with winning a gold in the company of Leander Peas. This time Leander and I played sensible tennis to win the Gold, improving on the third place at Busan Asian Games in 2002.'' ''Usually when we win in the individual capacity there will not be much excitement. But playing for the country is something special. I was more excited when our national flag fluttered and the national anthem was played'' , Sania said.
''You can't express that feeling in words'' , she added.
