Kolkata To Host Mexican Film Fest
A three-day festival of contemporary Mexican films will be held here from September 18, featuring six award winning movies from Latin America.
Jointly organised by leading film society Cine Central and the Mexican Embassy in New Delhi, the festival's award winning movies have been carefully selected keeping in mind the demand of the city's large film buffs.
While renowend film maker Luis Mandoki's Oscar nominated movie ''Innocent Voices'' would be shown on the opening day along with Hugo Rodriguez's ''Nicotine'', another world famous Mexican director Fernando Eimbcke's ''Duck Season'' and Sergio Arau's ''A Day Without Mexicans'' would be shown the following day.
''Bedtime Fairy Tale for Crocodile'', another award winning movie by renowned film maker Ignacio Ortiz and the ''Cannibal's Daughter'' by Hugo Rodriguez would be screened on the third and final day of the festival, being held for the first time in the city on such a scale.
Mexican Consul General in the city S.Majumdar will inaugurate the festival at Nandan cine complex in the presence of West Bengal Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Shyamal Kumar Sen.
