Bharti Aitel registers 79% growth
New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) Bharti Airtel Ltd today registered a growth of 79 per cent in its net profit at Rs 934 crore during the second quarter ended September 30, 2006, as compared to Rs 521 crore for the same period previous year.
The consolidated total revenues grew by 61 per cent to Rs 4,357 crore for Q2 FY 2006-07 on year-on-year basis as against Rs 2,709 crore for the same period last year.
''This quarter, for the first time ever, India's mobile net additions surpassed those of China. Wireless services continue to drive the growth of telecom services across the country with over 126 million subscribers,'' Bharti Airtel CMD Sunil Bharti Mittal said.
With a market share of all India mobile subscribers at 21.4 per cent, Bharti Airtel has delivered a strong performance in terms of revenue growth and market share driven by constant innovation and world-class services, Mr Mittal said.
Bharti had over 2.86 crore customers, as on September 30, 2006, an increase in the total customer base of 90 per cent, over the corresponding period last year leadership position as on September 30, 2006.
The revenues and net profit for the first half ended September 30, 2006 was Rs 8,214 crore and Rs 1,689 crore, a growth of 57 per cent and 64 per cent over the same period last year respectively.
