Sharks need to be taken extra care of since they are a strong breed of fish. They love warm temperatures and can also resist cold temperatures. Sharks need to be fed thrice a day as they can get really hungry after two hours of being fed.
The basic ways to look after a shark at home is to make sure they are kept in around 90 litres of water. They also need to be provided with plenty of wood or rocks so that they can form their own territories.

Gravel Needed - The Bala Shark
The aquarium should have gravel at the bottom, but place only about 1/4-1/2 inch of gravel. Sharks love gravel as they have the tendency to stir it up when they swim around. Since, they enjoy it, it is one of the best ways on how to look after a shark at home.

Too Much Clutter - The banded bamboo shark
The tank should not be cluttered with plants, filters and other fish. Make sure to store one shark for a medium sized tank and eight for a large tank.

Filters - The whitespotted bamboo shark
One of the best ways on how to look after a shark at home is by introducing electrical filters which will automatically keep the aquarium clean. Though sharks are very clean fish, they are not into housekeeping.

For Breathing - The nurse shark
An air pump is necessary for your tank or you can opt for live plants in the aquarium in order look after a shark at home. However, it is best not to overstock the tank with plants as it will require a lot more cleaning.

Type Of Food - The coral catshark
Just because it is a shark, many think that they need to eat a lot. The best food for shark is flake food, freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex. You can also give your fish vegetable-based foods.

To have shark as a pet at home, you need a large aquarium with driftwood, rocks, and spots of dense vegetation. This will help shark to set territories around the aquarium.

Vacuum The Tank - Blue Torpedo Shark
One of the best ways on how to look after a shark at home is to vacuum the aquarium weekly in order to remove the detritus that forms on the gravel at the bottom of the tank. Using an algae scrubber too will be fine to scrape the algae off the aquarium glass.

When Fish Die - Apollo Shark
When a fish dies,it should be removed from the tank immediately since the dead fish will decompose to pollute the tank, making it difficult for other sharks to breathe.

Feeding - Silver Shark
The best way to look after a shark is to not over feed it. The sharks will not eat more. When full, they will allow the food to fall to the bottom of the tank and it will thus add to the tank looking dirty.
