Of all the Golden Retriever information you require the most important one is that they are totally lovable. Golden Retrievers are known for being nice family dogs. They play with your children, travel with you, eat, sleep and live with you and that is all Golden Retrievers are about. The most basic information about Golden Retriever's nature is that they crave human companionship. They like to feel like a part of the family. Training a Golden Retriever is a dream because they are an extremely intelligent dog breed.

Some Basic Information About Golden Retrievers:
Like all the different dog breeds have have different characteristics, Golden Retrievers too have there own unique set of features.

Golden Retrievers are...

• Family dogs: They love to play with you. They are called retrievers primarily because they are very good at fetching things. You throw a Frisbee or ball at them and say 'fetch' and they will happily chasing after it.
• Like children: They love attention. You have to pat their back and say 'well done' every time they fetch the newspaper for you. You have appreciate them for their little tricks and the feel very happy and proud.
• Over friendly dogs: They don't understand the difference between the family and other people. They will jump at any one who comes to visit you and lick them clean! They bark softly not in warning but greeting. So if they are rebuffed or reprimanded it hurts their feelings.
• Very good with children and other pets: Your golden pet will adore your children and any other pets you may have. They do not try to intimidate different smaller breeds of dogs. In fact you will never see them chase after street dogs either.
• Very easy to train: Training a Golden Retriever is a simple job. They pick up things fast and retain them well. Training Golden Retrievers is so simple because they are highly intelligent animals.
• Very Hairy and they Shed a lot: you have to give them a thorough brushing daily because they shed lots of hair. Their hair grows quickly and needs a trim every now and then.
• Love water: Their coat is resistant to water and they love to play in water. This is an interesting piece of information about Golden Retrievers because most other dogs are hydrophobic.

Golden Retrieves are not..

• Guard Dogs: Don't be deceived by their size. They are very non-aggressive in spite of being large dog breeds. I once saw a cat charging at my Golden Retriever and he meekly backed out! So you can safely have them at home; there is a fat chance that they will bite anybody, least of all you.
• Suitable for Singles or Working Couples: They cannot bear to be left alone. They would die of a heartache.
• Lazy: They are not hyper active either. They can survive with medium amount of exercise but don't over work them or let them sloth.
