Introduction: All About Pugs

Cute Pug
Love is what pugs are all about. Pug is a dog breed that is cute, cuddly and tiny but extremely affectionate and wonderful with children. If you are planning on buying a pet then you will need to know all about pugs. There are certain important pug facts that will come in handy. Pugs are now one of the most popular dogs breeds. They were always very good companions for you but I guess the beautiful Hutch advertisement has something to do with their new found popularity!

Before we talk all about what pugs are let us see what they are not.

Pug dogs are not...

  • Watchdogs: they cannot watch over your house when you are away. They don't like to be left alone at home when you are away in the first place.
  • Guard dogs: if you are looking for protection from your dog then pugs should not be your choice. This breed of dogs is that of harmless canines. They are not aggressive and don't attack outsiders. They are in fact quite indifferent to strangers. Your little pug will be the first one to hide if there is a burglar in your house!
  • Very Intelligent dogs: they are not the brightest canines around. If you want a perceptive pet that will be smart then pugs are not for you. They are not incurably stupid but are not known for their intelligence either.
  • Easy To Train: pugs are slow learners. They cannot pick up training commands at the first go. They are more responsive to emotions than orders.
  • Good Walkers: they need some minimum exercise but pugs prefer to just lie around in your lap and be cuddled. They cannot fetch balls for you or play with you outdoors.

Now we can talk all about what pugs are.

Pug dogs are...

  • Very Friendly with Children: if you have children then give pugs a huge bias. Your kids will absolutely love this clown of a dog. A pug can do anything for attention. They will do all kids of gimmicks that will have your children clutching their stomachs with laughter.
  • Dogs that Shed a lot: don't be fooled by the short fur and small size of this dog. An interesting pug fact is that they shed a lot of hair. You have to brush them everyday to get rid of the loose hair.
  • Hyper active: as puppies they will be too active to sit in one place. They will constantly fidget. Even even they are older they actually follow you around everywhere; just like they show in the Hutch advertisement.
  • Very Sensitive to Weather: they cannot tolerate very hot or cold weather. They will need an air conditioner in the Indian summer.
  • Greedy: be careful not to overfeed them because they love to eat.

Now that you know all about pugs you must be convinced they are the best small dogs to have.
