MAKE YOUR OWN CURTAINS: THINGS YOU NEEDMAKE YOUR OWN CURTAINS: THINGS YOU NEED

So, you must try these steps for cleaning window and door curtains easily. If you have any special requirements, then you have to follow a different method. You can clean net curtains and cotton curtains in the same way. So, here is a complete guide for the steps to follow while you wash and clean your room curtains.

Wash & Clean Your Room Curtains

Dust The Curtains First
First of all, dust the curtains to remove all the loose dust that has settled on them. This makes your work a lot easier.

Take Out All The Hooks

Remove the curtains from the sliding rods on windows and take out each and every hook that is there in the curtains. If the hooks remain in the curtains, your washing machine will be damaged.

Soak The Curtains
Use the 'soak' option of your washing machine to soak the curtain. You can also soak the curtains in a large bucket of water and detergent.

Choose The Washing Machine Setting
The 'setting' to wash your window curtains depends on the fabric of the curtains. You can wash the cotton curtains in the normal setting. For lace, net or silk curtains, you need to use the delicate mode. And if the curtains are really thick, use the 'blanket' mode.

Don't Forget To Add Fabric Conditioner
When you are washing delicate things like curtains, do not forget to add some fabric conditioner to the washing machine so that the colour and texture of the curtains is intact.

Do Not Use Dryer
Never use the dryer option when you are cleaning window curtains. The dryer will wrinkle the curtains. It might also make them shrink. Although it is hard work, you should squeeze out the water by hand.

Dry Clean If Necessary
Some special fabrics like velvet or crepe cannot be washed at home. For these, you should ideally dry clean your curtains so that they are not damaged.
