Trim the wick of the candle for a steady flow of oxygen that aids in a longer burning

Keep the wicks trimmed to ¼ or ' inch before lighting the candle. Longer wicks burn well but a little trimming helps to avoid smoking especially if it is jar candle.

Allow the candle to cool if you prefer to trim the wicks.

Do not burn a candle for more than 3 hours.

Keep away candles from a draft that get the flame flickering and causes it to smoke.

Avoid exposing candles to strong light that will cause the colour of your candle to fade

Pillar candles need hugging (folding in wax closer to the wick) for an efficient burning.

While refrigerating have them enveloped in a plastic cover and ensure that the wicks are covered lest they will absorb moisture. This will cause delay in getting lit. Avoid putting them in the freezer.

To retain the scent of the candles store them enveloped in covers in zipped bags or drawers.

Do not burn candles right under a ceiling fan or air conditioner vent. This will ensure the candles to last longer.

Dig out a little was around the wick if the wick is too small.

Scented candles are not to be burnt long as they are creations for artistic purposes
