First, the exposure to the sun. Lilies, during the initial phase, need considerable exposure to the sun. The flowers gain necessary nutrients from sunlight and begin growing. Make sure you plant the bulbs in autumn. You must plant them at least 12 inches below the ground so that roots that grow can support the plant adequately.
Lilies need to be watered thoroughly. They are plants that require a lot of water to grow. Also, the soil should be loamy. Soil variety should be between acidic and neutral. Once the lilies bloom, remember to divide and replant them.
Lilies would require a very thin layer of compost in order to grow. This is an importat point to be remembered when it comes to planting lilies. Mulching may also be required in order to ensure healthy growth of plants. Lilies come in different colours including red, orange, pink, yellow and white.
