Where To Place Ganesha Idol At Home?
Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival that celebrates the divine powers of the elephant god, Ganesha. Many families place a Ganesha idol in their house on this auspicious occasion. Keeping a decorated Ganesha in your house is different from placing an idol for worship. That is why, its vital to know exactly where you must place the Ganesh idol in your home. The Ganesha decoration ideas can be decided upon only after the Lord has been placed properly.
Many people place the Ganesha in their living room or puja room for Ganesh Chaturthi. However, you must keep the right Vastu rules in mind and only then decide where to place the idol of Ganapati. These are the basic guidelines for placing the idol of Ganesha in your house.

Left Facing Trunk
The trunk of Ganesha should always to be twisted towards the left in context to Gowri (His Mother). Most people place Gowri and Ganesha together for Ganesh Chaturthi. So always ensure that your Ganesha idol's trunk points left to Gowri Maa.
Facing Back
The back of Ganesha should not be facing any of the rooms in your house. Ganesha is the god of prosperity, but His back indicated poverty. That is why, you must ensure that the back of Ganesha faces outside your house.
Not South
It is best to not place the Ganesha idol in the Southern direction of your house. Try to place the idol in the East or the Western directions of the house. Your puja room should also not be in the South of your house.
Toilet
Never place the Ganesha idol across a wall that is attached to the bathroom. You should not place the Ganesha against a wall that is common between the toilet and the room.
Silver Ganesha
Many families place a pure silver Ganesha in their house. If your Ganesha idol is metallic, then you should place it in the North East or South West direction.
Northeast
The Northeast corner of your house is the ideal place to install Ganesha. If the Northeast side of your house complies to the above rules, then place the idol here.
Under Staircase
If you live in a duplex or bungalow, you must never install the Ganesha idol under a staircase. This is because people will be walking over the stairs. And they will be literally walking over Ganesha's head. It might bring bad luck to your home.
These are some simple rules to follow when you do Ganesha decorations at home.
