Eid Decoration Spl: Table Setting Ideas
The festivities are in the air and Eid decorations are certainly underway. The special festivities of Eid would mean nothing if not for family gatherings. The most central essence of Eid is to share joy and that is why, large Eid feasts are a tradition that is still followed. The spirit of sharing is expressed through food on the day of Eid.
That is why one of the main aspects of Eid decoration is the table settings. It is customary for Muslims to eat out of the same plate for bonding with one another. That is why, you need specific table setting ideas for Eid.
Here are table setting ideas that can be implemented for Eid decorations.
Floor Eating Arrangements
It is an ancient Islamic custom to sit on the floor and enjoy your food. You can lay out the food spread on the floor. All you have to do is place a table cloth on the floor in a neat rectangular shape. Then lay floor mats around the table cloth for people to sit.
Silverware
Eid is a religious and ethnic festival. That is why Eid decorations should also be ethnic in nature. Bring out all your best silverware for this occasions. Now it is understandable that you do not have lots of silver at home. But the advantage is that you need not give all your guests individual plates. They are supposed to eat out of the same plate. So you can use the extra plates to serve the different varieties of food.
Food Arrangement
Layout the food in concentric circles. Your guests will start eating with appetisers like kebabs so place them in the outer circles. Salads and chutneys should also be placed in the outer most circle.
The maincourse can be kept in the centre because your guests will start off on that later.
Glasses
You can use almost any kind of glasses for the Eid decorations at your table. However, just make sure they are all the same kind of glasses. You can opt to have different type of glasses for sherbets, water and juices.
Flowers
No matter what the occasion, flowers always add a touch of glamour to your decorations. So keep a bowl of water with flower petals in true Islamic style on the table. You can light a few scented oil lamps around this bowl. It can easily serve as your centre piece for the table settings.
