Some folk remedies actually work though they may sound silly to any of us living in this modern era. But such remedies were followed since centuries.
One example is the chicken soup remedy. It is believed to treat cold. Also, those who suffered constipation consumed castor oil to move the bowels, those days. Such remedies may sound silly to us but back then, they seemed to work for them.
Here are some such folk remedies which stood the test of time.

Raisins For Arthritis
This is an old remedy. Soak a handful of raisins in 3 teaspoons of gin before going to bed. The next day, snack on the raisins whenever you feel like. This mixture is anti-inflammatory and could reduce the pain and the swelling.

Garlic For Flu
Mix a teaspoon of honey with a crushed garlic and eat it. This mixture can clear the symptoms of flu or cold.

Apricots For Indigestion
Eating a few apricots after dinner will boost your digestion. It can prevent bloating and indigestion.

Lemons For Ear Aches
Sprinkle a few drops of lemon juice in your ear. It can stabilise the pH levels and reduce the ear ache. But don't try this unless your doctor allows you to. In some people, this could cause pain.

Celery For Bad Breath
If you are suffering from bad breath, you don't need to chew a gum all day. Instead, chew celery to get rid of the bad odour instantly.

Baking Soda For Urinary Tract Infections
Add a pinch of baking soda to half a cup of water and drink it. It can normalise the pH levels of your bladder. Harmful bacteria will be controlled.
