Coffee is essentially the brewed drink that is obtained from the coffee beans, which grow in the plant. Coffee is said to have originated from Ethiopia, wherein the plant was first discovered there but the drink originated in Yemen. Coffee is grown extensively in over 70 countries around the world, including America, Africa and India.

The two kinds of coffee beans include Arabica, which is more sophisticated and Robusta, which is a harder and cheaper version of the beans.

With the growing mechanization of the society, people have no time for anything. Coffee has seeped into each sphere of our lives; be it breakfast or as an after-dinner beverage. Although coffee is very helpful for people trying to stay awake at night for working or studying, it comes with a lot of side effects.

#1 Increases Hypertension

It has been studied that coffee has a positive correlation with various cardiovascular diseases and increases the stress level in users. People with heart problems are advised not to drink coffee, as it increases their already high blood pressure level and causes further health complications.

#2 Insulin Insensitivity

Addiction to coffee leads to insulin insensitivity, which ultimately leads to your body cells not reacting to the high blood sugar levels. This might lead to arterial deterioration and more chances of developing cardiovascular diseases.

#3 Increase In Acidity

Coffee is known to have acid content in it and the relieving effect is caused by the caffeine content, which is highly addictive. This acidity might lead to a digestive discomfort, indigestion, heart burn and various other cardiovascular diseases. It makes the condition worse for people who are diabetic.

As mentioned earlier, the caffeine content in coffee leads to the sense of relief that one gets after drinking coffee. Addiction makes it very difficult for a user to rely on his own body's energy level. The withdrawals is as bad as that of any drug addiction!

Coffee is known to be a diuretic, meaning its users are more prone to be urinating frequently. This increased level of urination may lead to the ejection of the necessary calcium, magnesium and other minerals from your body, which can lead to various deficiencies.

The constituents in coffee can interfere with the normal drug metabolism and detoxification of the liver. People who take medicines for thyroid are more likely to experience the side effects, as these medicines are poorly absorbed in the body, due to coffee intake.

If you have sleeping problems, think before gulping down that latte, as it might worsen your condition. The caffeine in the coffee will aggravate the condition for people who suffer from anxiety and depression by stimulating their brain.

#8 Worsens Constipation

For people who think coffee can help with constipation, NO! Coffee is likely to give momentary relief from the condition; but there are chances it might reoccur again. Coffee is a big dehydrating agent, which will worsen the constipation. It is also not a good source of dietary fibre, hence making it a strict no-no during constipation.

#9 Reduces Fertility

Research suggests that coffee can actually cause infertility, mostly amongst women. Women who are willing to conceive should steer clear of this beverage, as it tends to prevent the development of egg cells, making them impotent.

#10 May Cause Miscarriage

Due to the caffeine content and the stimulating effects, coffee is known to be a big player when it comes to miscarriage. This is the reason why pregnant women are advised to limit their intake to 2 cups per day. It further increases the chances of a premature delivery due to its stimulating nature.

All in all, anything taken in excess can have major complications on the body and so is the case with coffee, hence the best way to go about it would be to limit your intake and amount of coffee per day.
