10 Ayurvedic Tips To Protect Yourself From Monsoon Maladies
Monsoon has set in, and it's that time of the year again when you witness an upsurge in the host of viral diseases that come along with it.
Apart from viral fever and gastrointestinal problems, being the most common monsoon diseases, others like dengue, typhoid, malaria, pneumonia and conjunctivitis also are seen on the rise.

1. Neem Leaves:
Neem leaves are considered the best in treating viral infections. Boil about 10-12 neem leaves with water, strain it and then drink this water, about 3-4 times in a day. This helps in building the immune system.
2. Garlic:
Garlic is known for its antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Just crush 3-4 cloves of garlic and consume it raw. This helps in fighting viral fever and cold.
3. Ginger:
In Ayurveda, ginger is considered as one of the most potent ingredients. Grate a piece of ginger, boil it with water, you can consume it in the form of tea or have it with adding a bit of lemon juice and honey.
4. Honey:
Honey is rich in antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. Take one tablespoon of honey and lemon juice each, add it in warm water and drink it. This helps relieve cough and also throat pain.
5. Turmeric:
Turmeric is one of the well-known ingredients in Ayurveda having antibacterial and antiviral properties, which help fight viral infections like cough and cold effectively. Mix about one teaspoon of turmeric with warm water and drink it.
6. Cinnamon:
Cinnamon is rich in antibacterial properties, it helps in reducing cold, cough and throat irritation effectively. Take about half a tablespoon of ground cinnamon, mix it with one spoon of honey and consume it about twice in a day.
7. Night Jasmine:
The antiviral and antibacterial properties found in night jasmine have wonderful results in curing cold and cough. Crush a few leaves of night jasmine, take its juice and mix it with a spoon of honey and consume it.
8. Holy Basil:
Loaded with antibacterial and antifungal properties holy basil or tulsi is effective in treating sore throat, fever and malaria. Take about 10-15 leaves of holy basil, boil them in water and drink this water slowly in the form of a tea.
9. Chamomile Tea:
Chamomile tea is known to have antioxidant properties. It helps fight bacteria and viruses. Take a few leaves of chamomile, boil them in water and then drink the strained water. This helps in curing cold and sore throat.
10. Green Tea:
The antioxidant properties of green tea help in providing a great relief from cold, runny nose and sore throat. Dip a bag of green tea in a glass of boiling water, keep it for about five minutes and then drink the tea for about 2-3 times in a day.
