Causes Of Eyelid Twitching To Avoid
Eyelid twitching is a common eye condition that is characterised by uncontrolled contractions of the eyelid muscles. It is an uncomfortable and irritating feeling. It also makes you feel that there is a problem in the eye.
Unhealthy Signs You Should Lookout For
Many superstitions are also associated with this such as people think some evil things are going to happen. While as, some people also relate them with good things. However, this common belief is also the reason that people are more worried.
How Long Will You Live: Truths Revealed
Eyelid twitching should not be related to any superstition as it is a medical condition known as myokymia. In this the oculi muscle, which helps you to blink or close the eyes is affected. However, it is a harmless condition. These involuntary movements of the eyelids last for a few minutes but may sometimes last for a hours or days as well.
Following are the reasons of eye twitching that you must be aware of. To avoid eyelid twitching know the medical causes below:

Stress
Our body reacts in different ways to stress and eye twitching can be one of the sign of stress. Excessive eye strain can also cause eye twitching. So reducing the cause of stress helps to stop the twitching.

Tiredness
Lack of sleep and working on a computer all day long can be a reason of eyelid spasms. Have a proper sleep and minimise your work on computer to avoid eye twitching.

Vision Related Stress
If you face an eye sight related issue, then you must visit an eye specialist. Your eyes may be too much strained which results in eyelid twitching. Overuse of computers, tablets and smart phones is also a very common cause of vision-related stress. You must wear special computer eyeglasses if you spend more time on computer. This is one of the common reasons of eye twitching.

Caffeine And Alcohol
Another cause of eye twitching can also be too much of caffeine or alcohol consumption which can trigger eye twitching. Limit your caffeine (coffee, tea, soda etc.) and alcohol intake to prevent frequent eye spasm.

Dry Eyes
Dryness of eyes is common among elderly people as a result of ageing. People who use computers, or take certain medications such as antidepressants also suffer from dry eyes. This is one of the medical causes of eyelid twitching.

Eye Allergies
Eye allergies can also cause eyelid itching, swelling and watery eyes. When eyes are rubbed, this releases a chemical called as histamine into the lid tissues and tears. This histamine causes eye twitching. If you suffer from allergies, then visit an ophthalmologist.

Vitamin D And B12 Deficiency
Vitamin D helps in the absorption of calcium. Calcium is important for muscle contraction and relaxation. Lack of calcium in the body causes twitching. Deficiency of vitamin B12 leads to shaky movements as well as eye twitching.

Eye Lid Inflammation
Medically this is known as blepharitis and is caused by bacterial infection. It can also be caused by blockage of the oil glands in the eye. Inflammation of the eyes is accompanied by eyelid twitching and itching.
