Thyroid is a disease which should be cared for or else it may cause major health issues. In both the type of thyroids, it is the diet which has to be controlled and looked after. One should avoid foods bad for thyroid health to prevent thyroid occurrence or treat thyroid.
In this article we shall talk about the foods bad for thyroid functioning which should be avoided if you are suffering from thyroid. These foods increase chances of getting affected with thyroid related problems. Preventing these foods is one way to avoid thyroid health issues.

Iodine - Iodine is a reason to trigger thyroid. Therefore, avoid high iodine containing foods like meat, fish, etc. The iodine high iodine content is a food bad for thyroid health and functioning. The daily consumption of Iodine should not be more than 150 grams which becomes quite impossible to maintain. Therefore, avoid as much as iodine you can and eat healthy.
Cruciferous Vegetables - These vegetables generally include broccoli, cauli flower and cabbage. These vegetables contain a chemical which hamper the normal working of thyroid gland. Therefore, cruciferous vegetables are food bad for thyroid health and functioning. These vegetables should be avoided as much as possible. These vegetables also contain sulfur which is responsible for triggering thyroid Mal-function. It would be beneficial to avoid this food bad for thyroid health and functioning.
Soya - Though Soya is considered to be very healthy for our body functioning, it contains certain flavanoids which are bad for thyroid health and functioning. Soya should therefore be avoided by people who are suffering from thyroid or are at a risk of getting thyroid related problems. Soya flavanoids like the chemical in cruciferous vegetables add to the malfunctioning of thyroid gland.
Rice - Rice and rice related products are considered to have high sodium as well as carbohydrates which thereby increase weight. Rice is a food which is bad for thyroid heath or a food bad for thyroid functioning. People suffering from thyroid hould avoid rice. Especially people who have hypothyroid where the weight increases drastically. Therefore, avoid rice if you have thyroid. It is one food that is very bad for thyroid health and functioning.
Oil and oily food - The oil fried food or high oil containing food is also bad for thyroid health and functioning. Oily food causes problems for thyroid working. People who already are suffering from thyroid have more problems as oily food leads to increase in weight and cholesterol. Therefore, you must avoid oily food as much as possible. Oily food is bad for health in all ways and not just thyroid. So for the overall health of the body avoid oil based food.
Excessive salt - Salt us a major food ingredient that contains iodine. As mentioned earlier iodine is bad for thyroid health and functioning. Avoid salt as it is the source of iodine in many cuisines. Have minimum salt in food ifou have a thyroid problem. Salt is one ingredient that can make food bad for thyroid health.
