Obese Children More Prone To Heart Risks?
Obesity is a very common health problem among children which is becoming a matter of concern for the parents. As kids, we have never faced health problems which obese children these days are suffering from. For example, obese children are very prone to high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and elevated blood cholesterol levels. Co-author, Emeritus Professor Mark Wahlqvist from Monash University's Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine and the Monash Asia Institute says, "Childhood obesity has been associated with psychological problems, but little is known about its association with ED in the educational setting, especially by gender."
According to researchers, it is not just American kids, but children in India too are becoming obese. As per surveys and researches, it has been found out that boys (16.5 percent) were significantly more likely to be obese than girls (11.7 percent).

Obese Children More Prone To Heart Risks:
Improper Diet: It is one of the major causes of obesity. not eating healthy and nutritious affects your whole body which includes the heart as well.
Self Esteem Issues: Bariatric surgeon, Dr Ramen Goel from Mumbai says, "With increased parental pressure, societal expectations and obesity related physical limitations most of these children are suffering from self esteem and psychological issues."
Junk Food: Eating too much bad cholesterol increases blood pressure and also blocks the arteries gradually. This is turn makes obese children become prone to heart diseases and unwanted weight gain.
Lack of Exercise: Kids these days are much into mobiles and video games. Lack of outdoor activities is one of the causes of children becoming obese.
Psychological Problems: Dr Ramen Goel speaks on the psychological affects that obesity is putting on children. He says, "Children go in cycles of starvation, excessive exercising and high possibility of weight regain. These kids are emotionally traumatized and need urgent psychological support which is missing in our society. "
Childhood obesity is a major health problem which needs immediate attention. Parents must take a note that obese children are at a higher risk of heart diseases especially heart attack. It doesn't happen gradually, but immediately! So on World Heart Day, make sure your kids are healthy, active and mentally fit. Do not ignore signs of psychological conditions like change in behaviour, tantrums etc.
