Nutritional Benefits Of Dairy Products
Many of us are recommended to include dairy products in our daily diet as they have many nutritional benefits. The health benefits of dairy products is known to all of us. Some of the common dairy products that are used by us are milk, yogurt, butter, cheese and ghee which are extremely essential for our overall heath.
Most of us assume that dairy products are known to be only rich in calcium. On the brighter note, dairy products are rich in vitamins, minerals and is an excellent source of Vitamin D and A. With this richness found in dairy products, it definitely helps people meet their daily nutritional needs. Similarly, adequate consumption of dairy products helps in preventing bone diseases, maintains body weight and blood pressure. Nutrients found in the dairy products have vast benefits on our body, and if the calories are a problem, you can always substitute with skimmed milk and low fat cheese and butter.
Some of the nutritional benefits of dairy products are:

Proteins
Proteins play a healthy role in creating antibodies which helps fight infection. Likewise, they are known to maintain healthy muscles, build tissues and balance fluids in our body. Milk, yogurt and blue cheese are known to be rich in both calcium and proteins.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A is known to provide skin benefits. It also aids in the development of healthy and strong bones and teeth. Most of the dairy products namely buttermilk, yogurt and butter have high amount of Vitamin A.

Sodium
Sodium is mainly found in cheese, ghee and also butter. Consumption of cheese at the same time should be limited as it is fattening. Sodium is known to be good for the heart, nervous system and muscle contraction.

Zinc
Zinc is an essential mineral that is known to be good for the overall health. They help in building damaged tissues and bones. Zinc helps in converting food into energy. Drinking a glass of milk is sufficient to get zinc content for our body.

Sugar
Excessive sugar is bad for the health but one needs to have certain amount of sugar in the body as it acts like glucose. Milk products are known to have natural sugar content and at the same time, one must make sure that the intake of milk and yogurt, especially flavoured ones should be limited. Skimmed milk and low fat plain yogurt can be a good substitute as it is less in sugar and calories.

Fat
Most of us avoid fatty foods and dairy products is also considered to be fattening. The fats that are stored in the body helps in fighting infections and diseases. Unsaturated milk and cheddar cheese are known to be high in fat content. However one can have skimmed milk and low fat cheese in order to get the right amount of fat for a healthy body.

Calcium
Dairy products are rich in calcium. Calcium content in our body strengthens bones, reduces osteoporosis, may help with weight loss or reduce body fat. Calcium plays a critical part in blood clotting and muscle contractions. All milk products are rich in calcium.

Magnesium
Having butter and yogurt on everyday basis will increase the level of magnesium in the body. Magnesium found in dairy products are known to be good for teeth, helps in tissue formation and converses food into energy.

Selenium
Dairy products have a high amount of selenium content, that is extremely necessary for building strong immune system. Thus, including dairy products in our diet is extremely necessary.
