Health Tips For Night Shift Working People
There are many working professionals who have to be flexible with timings. You must not think that the whole world sleeps at night. There are many who are doing night shifts as well. It is not just with call centers, but in most of the companies, employee needs to be flexible for night shifts.
Working whole night is not an easy job! It is a welcoming time for many health conditions like diabetes, heart diseases, sleeplessness, stress to name a few. According to many experts, employees who work for three or more nights on shifts are prone to developing type 2 diabetes.
These health conditions mainly arise due to unhealthy lifestyle. People who work night shifts rely on fast or processed foods. They eat any or everything to curb their hunger. Moreover, coffee becomes an important drink (much more than water) for people working in night shifts. In short, night shift working people follow a poor diet and their work timings take a toll on their health as well.
Well, if you work on night shifts, you need to follow some health tips for a better and active body. To stay healthy, night shift workers need to be very watchful. For example, they should not drink more than one cup of coffee. A cup of coffee has the ability to take away sleep for minimum of 7-8 hours. Instead of having processed or packaged foods, you must have fresh foods. If that is not possible then carry some healthy snacks to work. You must eat healthy. Include a lot of superfoods like spinach, berries and broccoli etc, that are nutritious and healthy too.

To get rid of tired and sleepy eyes, you drink a cup of coffee. However, it is advisable not to drink more than a cup of coffee when working in night shift. It might lead to dehydration and sleeplessness.
Drink Water
Water boosts up the immune system and also keeps you hydrated. Working late in the night reduces energy and water levels in the body. So drink lots of water to stay hydrated and fight fatigue.
Avoid Oily Foods
Oily food slows down digestion and also aids to fatigue. Moreover, oily foods are rich in calories and cholesterol which is not good for overall health. To avoid weight gain and heart diseases, do not eat oily food.
Take A Walk
This is an effective health tip for people working on night shift to follow. Taking a walk or break relaxes the eyes and mind. This also refreshes you up and helps you stay awake without any problem.
Keep Eating
It is one of the best health tips for night shift working people. Eating in small amounts at short intervals. You can have nuts like almonds or pine nuts.
Control Sugar
Having too much sugar can lead to weight gain. Weight gain is a common health problem of night shift workers.
Healthy Snacks
You can have healthy snacks like vegetable sandwich (without cheese). Even steamed momos can be a healthy snack idea for night shift working people.
No Energy Drink
Do not gulp down bottles of energy drink to stay awake. It tires you more when you go to sleep. Moreover, energy drinks have high concentration of caffeine.
Sleep If Possible
If possible, try to take a small nap in between work hours. In most of the companies, you can find a rest room. Taking a nap would refresh you.
