Flavoured Cigarettes Are Also Unhealthy
What is the actual story?
According to a Journal of the National Cancer Institute, menthol flavoured cigarettes are very highly consumed among black Americans. That is why, cases of lung cancer is higher in the black community was higher. Some studies suggests that, menthol influences the smoker's behaviour. Although it is light, the effects are stronger on the brain. Smokers inhale more deeply and this increases the dependency on the menthol flavoured cigarettes. Thus, it becomes harder to quit menthol cigarettes.
Researchers at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, Tenn , when compared to normal cigarettes, menthol cigarettes are associated with lower risks of lung cancer. Among people smoking 20 or more cigarettes regularly and 5-10 menthol cigarettes smokers, the study says that menthol smokers are only 12 times more likely to suffer from lung cancer. But, normal smokers are 21 times at a higher risk of lung cancer and death. C
Moreover, it was concluded that, menthol smokers can quit more easily than the normal smokers. This means that non-mentholated cigarettes are difficult to quit and are more injurious to health. Whatever the case be, cigarettes are unhealthy for your body; be it flavoured or non-flavoured.
Similarly, clove flavoured cigarettes are another hit among the teens and women. The sweet smell and the aroma of cloves make them love this flavoured cigarette. But, clove cigarettes contain eugenol, an aesthetic that is used by dentists to numb the mouth. When you smoke a clove cigarette, the eugenol numbs the upper airways of the lungs. This makes you inhale more deeply and as you do not feel the smoke going inside. Inhaling more deeply affects the inner lungs making you prone to lung cancer.
Many cigarette companies and health associations are planning to ban the production of flavoured cigarettes as underage teens are getting more addicted to the harmful flavoured cigarettes. Be it menthol or clove flavour, cigarette smoking is injurious for the health. If you are addicted to smoking, it is high time, you think about your health and control your addiction.
