Health Is Wealth: Secret Behind Good Health

By Nandhini Devi

Health Is Wealth
Health is wealth – this is a common saying that we all know about. We often mention it to family & friends, advising them to take care of their health. But little do we realize that we ourselves don't follow it. Right from the day we are born, our mothers take tender care of us. They make sure that we get the right food, at the right time and, in the right form. However, this does not go on for long. As we grow older, we have to face different situations and compromise on various aspects in our life. Before we realize that our day-to-day activities are taking a huge toll on our health, it would have made a large impact on our life. And, very sadly, in a negative manner.

We have to take care of our health (like we protect our wealth) - every single one of us is aware of this fact. But we cannot plan or schedule it like a task, as health is definitely not a task. It is a part of our life or rather, it is the good part of our life. We have to work our way towards instilling healthy habits into our life, which eventually will lead to our good health. Even though we keep hearing about all the good things that we can do to improve our lifestyle, we do very little to inculcate the same. The negative effects of certain routines that we follow, leads to bad health.

Bad health is certainly not good news to anyone. It affects everyone in a particular way. A school student, who is skipping his meals and eating junk food outside, is sure to fall sick. This way he misses school and lags behind in his studies. A smart energetic techie, who is keen upon climbing up the ladder of success, neglects his food, sleep and and regular habits. One fine day, his good health gives way and he falls prey to illness. His bad health leads to poor performance, and regular absenteeism affects his appraisal. A housewife's ultimate goal is to please her family. She wants to give them the best food, provide an hygienic atmosphere and total comfort. In the meantime, she forgets that she has to keep fit to provide all these. However, when she fails to take of herself, she falls sick and there is total chaos in the family.

These are just a few of the many instances that happen in our daily life. Every other day, we see people succumbing to the effects of bad health. There are no absolute rules to help a person follow a healthy lifestyle. Just inducing certain regular habits in our life will help us get back on the right path. Simple things like not skipping our breakfast (the most important meal of the day) and not stuffing ourselves with tasty (actually dangerous) snacks contribute towards good health (as well as saves wealth).

Another important aspect that contributes to bad health is lack of exercise. This does not mean that we have to visit the gym every day. Taking the stairs instead of using an elevator or walking up to the neighborhood store to shop allows us to flex our muscles, at least to some extent. Doing household chores by ourselves not only keeps us fit, but also helps us in keeping the house cleaner.

The above said health tips are not the only ones that help us maintain a healthy life. Slowly bringing these health tips into practice, will eventually lead to more regular habits. This is a sure way to bring in a lot of healthy changes into one's life. A busy, yet organized life is what every person needs to keep ahead in the race towards success.
