Chocolates Cut Stroke And Heart Disease Risks

By Devaki

Here"s some happy news for chocolate lovers: A bar of the sweet treat can slash the risk of heart disease and stroke by 39 per cent, according to the latest studies! The experts say that cocoa has promising health effects.

The researchers believe that a 50g chocolate has the greatest effect. They had studied more than 30,000 people aged 35 to 65 in Germany. The research, prolonged for eight years also found that even one small square of chocolate can help. But if it is increased by 6g, there were 85 fewer hear attacks and strokes per 10,000 people.

The experts also warn the people to make sure to eat chocolate only as the part of a healthy and balanced diet.

"Small amounts of chocolate may help to prevent heart disease, but only if it replaces other energy-dense food - such as snacks - in order to keep body weight stable,"says the researchers.
