Question: What is a medical tattoo? Don't get your thoughts flying. It's not one of those trendy tattoos that doctors do in hospitals to satisfy your tattooing urge. Yes, it's a tattoo, but of a different kind, with a different set of objectives.

Medical tattoos are done with one prime objective. It's a way to let people know about some body's acute illness. Facebook, one of the popular social communities, has a community dedicated to it. Almost all users in the community carry a medical tattoo. When browsed through some of the questions that was raised in the community, it was found that the initiative was a way to encourage people to opt for medical tattoos.

Speaking about breast cancer, medical tattoos come as a bless for patients diagnosed with the same. During breast reconstruction, many a times, the surgery leaves some unwanted marks. These tattoos can be used to disguise these marks. It's can also be used to fill in areas of pigment loss, which is normal to be seen during breast surgery.

With so much of talks about the new trend, a useful one if one may say, which normally is not the case with 'trends', it's yet to be seen how effective the whole trend will be. Also, success will depend on the number of people opting for it, which is still minimal. All that one can say for now is, 'wait for the time to speak for it self.'
