Signs Of Malnutrition In Women
Woman of the house is usually the last one to eat the food. And many a times she is left with the smallest portion of food. This is probably one of reasons of malnutrition among women in India. However, malnutrition is not always a result of poverty. You might experience some signs of malnutrition even if you do not come from a poverty stricken family. It is seen among women from a well-to-do families as well.
There is a very simple explanation for this. Women ignore their health issues until they are out of hand. Signs of malnutrition do not appear suddenly. They develop slowly over time and women get accustomed to them. Moreover, young women suffer from malnutrition because they do not eat right. Junk food does not have any nutrients to speak off. So if burgers and pizzas are your staple diet, then you can expect high signs of malnutrition in your body.

Fatigue
The first and most potent signs of malnutrition is fatigue. You will have no energy to do anything, even to eat. When your muscles don't get required important nutrients like calcium, they are tired and as a result your body lacks energy.

Low Blood Pressure
If a person is malnutritioned, she will always have low blood pressure. When you are not eating carbs and fats, there will a deficiency of sugar in your blood. When your blood sugar falls so does your blood pressure.

Dizziness
When your blood pressure falls, you will obviously lose balance and your head will spin. This causes dizziness and nagging headaches.

Anemia
Women, especially Indian women have anemia very commonly. Women suffer from anemia because they do not have enough iron-rich foods. Moreover, a woman's body loses iron because of menstrual blood flow and also childbirth.

Irritability
Women become hormonal very easily. When you do not get the right kind of nutrients, your hormonal balance is also affected. That is why women become irritable and have mood swings.

Hair Loss
Hair and skin gets healthy when your body is healthy. If you do not have nutritious foods, your hair will be weak, limp and easy to break. If you are having abnormal hair loss for no apparent reason, it could be a sign of malnutrition.

Missing Periods
When your body does not have enough iron and calcium, it goes into starvation mode. The body starts saving up nutrients and thus stops the flow of menstrual blood. Iron deficiency is one of the common reasons for missing a period or having shorter periods.

Weight Loss
Malnutrition is not just the deficiency of vitamins and minerals. Even if you cut-down on carbs and proteins completely, you will end up being malnutrition stricken. But in this case, you lose lots of weight.

Weak Immunity
When your body lacks immunity building Vitamin C, Zinc and other vital nutrients, you fall sick easily. If you are suffering from one disease after another in a short span of time, you probably suffer from malnutrition.

Easy Bruising
Your skin gets bruised easily when the walls of your blood capillaries are weak. This usually happens when your blood platelet count comes down. This means you need Vitamin K and folate in large amounts.
