Hyderabad Temple Distributes Fish Prasadam For Asthma After 3 Years
The fish prasadam distribution, or fish medicine camp, returned to its glory on 9 June, after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The famous 'fish prasadam', which is believed to cure asthma, was distributed to thousands of people from various parts of the country at the Nampally Exhibition ground in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad's 'Fish Prasadam'
The Bathini Goud family organises the event in the belief that the prasadam can cure asthma. A herbal paste containing a live Murrel fish is given to thousands of people who believe it has medicinal properties and can treat respiratory ailments such as asthma and bronchitis.
According to the Bathini Goud family, the fish travels down the throat and clears it, providing relief for the patients.
The fish medicine is taken by thousands of patients throughout the country, regardless of their age.
Can It Really Cure Asthma?
Many people claim that fish prasadam has cured their asthma, but there is no scientific evidence to support this claim. Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that can only be managed, not cured. While the fish prasadam may provide temporary relief from asthma symptoms, it is not a cure.

Caution
Even though fish prasadam may be safe for some people, it can also be dangerous for others. The medicine involves swallowing a live fish, which can pose a choking hazard. In addition, the herbal paste used to stuff the fish may contain ingredients that can cause an allergic reaction or other adverse side effects.
On A Final Note...
While Hyderabad's 'fish prasadam' may be considered a popular treatment for asthma, it is important to separate fact from fiction. Although the medicine may provide temporary relief from asthma symptoms for some, it is not a cure, and it can also be dangerous for some people.
Before trying the fish prasadam or any other alternative medicine, it is important to consult with a qualified healthcare professional.
