Follow These To Get Quick Relief After Surgery
Listed here are a few of the best ways to get quick relief after surgery, check them out.
Surgeries have become very common these days. And with the advancement of science and technology, it is no more an open surgery (until it involves a major one).
A simple laparoscopy or microsurgery can cure an ailing patient. Post surgery, after getting discharged from the nursing home, is one of the crucial phases for a patient.
He/she has to be under the utmost care and take precautionary measures, so that there is no further risk associated with their health.
It is imperative to look after an individual who has recently undergone a surgery because the stitches are still fresh and any sort of risk of falling down or over stress can be detrimental to their health.
Quicker recovery with utmost care is what a person seeks from home after undergoing the surgery.
So, if you or any of your near one has undergone a surgery, then follow these simple steps for recovering quickly and have an active and healthy life again.
1. Include Ginger:
Post operation, many individuals face the problem of nausea and, as a result, they cannot have their proper diet. So, in that case, you can include ginger in your regular diet. Have ginger tea in the morning and evening. It is clinically seen that ginger has effective medicinal properties to calm down the uneasiness of your stomach. Ginger can be treated as an anti-nausea drug post surgery.
2. Include Foods And Drinks With Quercetin:
Surgeries are often accompanied with acute inflammation that heals with time. But till the time it is there in your body, it can be painful, as the affected area slowly regains its senses. Under such circumstances, quercetin is a type of flavonoid, found in several plants and fruits, which contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It is mainly found in onion and apples. You can even find the presence of this ingredient in several health drinks. So post surgery, either have apples every day or opt for quercetin-enriched health drinks in your daily meal. A daily dosage of 500-2500 mg per day is advisable for better result.
3. Avoid Smoking:
Smoking is injurious to health. All of us are aware of this renowned statement. But still there are people who despite knowing the hazard that smoking causes continue to smoke on a regular basis. In particular, smoking can be harmful before and after a person is undergoing a surgery. It is proven that anesthesia is effective in case of non-smokers who have a better heart and lungs conditions as compared to a smoker. Even after surgery, if a person continues to smoke, then it can cause serious complications like coughing due to smoking, which can put pressure on your surgical stitches and can cause potential risk to your health. So, avoid smoking before and after surgery.
4. Be Careful While Bathing:
After surgery, it is advisable to avoid bathing. This is because your wounds are fresh and water contained germs can enter through the cuts and cause a health hazard. Further, your dressing also gets wet, and it is essential to keep your wounds clean and dry till the dressing is removed. So, it is better to lightly sponge your body with warm water for a few days after surgery.
5. Dressing Regularly:
Your wounds need to be treated regularly at intervals as prescribed by your doctor. Proper dressing protects the wounds from germs or external factors like jerking. Clean your wounds regularly with cotton and antiseptics, apply ointment, and put a bandage around the affected area. Repeat it daily for healing quickly.
6. Include Protein In Your Diet:
Having a proper diet that includes lots of protein is necessary for a patient to recover quickly after surgery. Lean protein helps in connecting the tissues together and aids in faster recovery. But, remember, protein doesn't necessarily mean to consume lots of meat. It can be taken in a daily dosage of 25-30 g, that is in the form of almonds, soybeans, egg, fish, beans, and legumes. Occasionally, you can even include 100 g of chicken in the diet chart. This will also give you strength to heal faster.
7. Walking:
Post surgery, it is important to start taking little steps on your own. Walking is essential for your body, so that you don't develop complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pneumonia. Walking can also reduce the effects of anesthesia and constipation. Walk for an hour a day with breaks, so at to heal quickly and return to normal lifestyle.
8. Salt Water:
Salt has been used for medicinal purposes since the ancient era. Using salt water can fasten up the healing process of your body. If you have undergone an oral surgery, then rinse your mouth thrice with salt water to cure the soreness and revitalize your taste buds.
9. Ice Pack:
Ice can reduce any inflammation - from injuries to bruises, swollen cramps and surgery as well. Using ice pack after surgery helps to reduce your pain as the body recovers from the effect of anesthesia. Along with proper medication, apply ice pack whenever you need for a better cure. Ice will bring you some amount of relief after your surgery takes place.
So, these are some of the remedies, which if followed in the proper manner will be beneficial for healing up after undergoing a surgery. Along with this, don't forget to visit your doctor to check up and have your medicines and food on time. The more you relax, the quicker you can recover back to your normal lifestyle.
