Foods That Prevent Osteoporosis
The condition of weak and brittle bones is referred to as osteoporosis. Bones provide support for the muscles and protect the internal organs in the body.
Strong bones protect against osteoporosis. Calcium is essential for growth of the bones in infancy, childhood and adolescence.
Calcium is a mineral that strengthens the bones and teeth. Vitamin D, on the other hand, helps to absorb the calcium and further improves bone health.
Hence, in order to maintain a good bone health and prevent osteoporosis, it is necessary to eat right!
One should opt for foods that are rich in calcium, vitamin D and proteins which are found in milk and milk products, eggs, almonds, spinach, tuna, salmon, etc.
Vitamin D is abundantly found in sunlight. Very few foods are a good source of vitamin D.
So, eating the right kind of foods helps to avoid osteoporosis. Therefore, in this article, we have listed out few of the foods that are good for the overall health of your bones. Read on to know more about it.

Yoghurt: Yoghurt is a rich source of vitamin D. One cup of yoghurt a day contributes towards the daily requirement of calcium and strengthens your bones as well. It also prevents osteoporosis even consumed regularly.

Milk : Milk is the best source of calcium. Consuming milk regularly reduces the risk of low bone density. Consuming milk serves the purpose of getting a good amount of calcium and vitamins.
It helps to address the calcium requirement in the body.

Almonds: Consuming half a cup of almonds a day adds up about 18% of the calcium requirement per day. Almonds not only strengthen the bones but also aid in weight loss and promote a healthy heart.
Broccoli: Broccoli is a superfood that has high amounts of vitamin K and calcium. Thus, it is great for bone health and bone strength. Adding broccoli to your daily diet prevents osteoporosis and improves your immune system too.
Orange Juice: Sipping on orange juice early in the morning is a great way to start your day with. Oranges are rich in vitamin C. They also contain the bone-strengthening mineral calcium that helps aid bone development. An orange provides about 6% of the daily requirement of calcium per day.
