Ways To Deal With Suicidal Thoughts
Having suicidal thoughts is not as uncommon as you think. You could even say that such thoughts are natural. Any kind of failure can trigger suicidal thoughts. But before you start disagreeing, let us get a clear definition of what is a suicidal feeling? According to Anita Gracias who is a social volunteer working for suicide prevention group called Sahai for the last 10 years, "the feeling that your life is worthless' itself is the first step to suicide."
There are basically 4 steps to suicide; the first is the ideation or the first time you feel that your life is not worth living. Then comes the phase when you have suicidal thoughts regularly. The third step is when you prepare to commit suicide. In this stage, you actually arrange for sleeping pills or find a rope to hang yourself. The last step is obviously when you act upon your suicidal thoughts and actually try to kill yourself.
So, suicidal thoughts come to you in many stages and you get time to deal with them. That is why, Anita Gracias says, "Ask for help, that is the only way to prevent suicidal feelings. There are suicide prevention groups in every city that have a 24 hours helpline numbers." If you have suicidal thoughts then they are signs of depression.
Here are some very effective ways to deal with your suicidal feelings.

Recognise It Early
As soon as you get your first suicidal thought, the process of ideation of suicide has begun. So beware and identify your feelings early. This helps you to stay warned.

Break The Stream Of Thought
If you are planning suicide then break that stream of thought. If you are trying to think of ways and means to get poison, then break it there and start planning a vacation.

Talk To Someone You Trust
If you have a friend or family member who you can trust, talk to that person. Always talk to a person who is mentally sound and not depressed.

Call On A Helpline Number
If there is no one you can trust then the best way to is to put your faith in a stranger. Look up the Internet and get a suicide prevention helpline number. The people who will talk to you are trained in psychology so they will guide you in the right direction.

Don't Be Around Negative People
Avoid being around people who are depressed and have a negative attitude. When you are battling with depression yourself, such kind of people drag you down.

Don't Stay Alone At Home
When you are having suicidal thoughts, don't stay alone. Always stay with friends, family or people you can trust. In this way you don't get a chance to act upon suicidal impulses.

Do Things That Cheer You Up
Watch television, listen to your favourite songs and eat the foods you love. Don't watch that has anything to do with death and depression. You will be surprised how much it helps to be in a cheerful mood.

Think About All The People You Love
Think about all the people who love you and what your death might do to them. If there is no one else, your parents are the 2 people in this planet who will always love you. Besides, suicide is not a solution to your problems. It is only an escape from facing your problems.

See A Counsellor Immediately
After you have got a grip of yourself and avoided immediate impulses, you must see a therapist. Tell the doctor that you had suicidal thoughts and you would like to resolve your problems.
