The Health Disorders Of An Internet Addict
Internet, the major technological invention of the twentieth century has drawn almost every individual into its magical web. About ten years ago people who spent majority of their time were paid members of the technological industry. On the present day however, Internet usage is as common as calling a friend, going for a movie or barhopping etc. As web has become a part of mainstream life, some health professionals have noted that a large percentage of people are using the Internet in an addicted manner. This article discusses the impacts of Internet addiction on your health.
Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has a major impact on your mental health than the physical health. Since the Internet addicts have obsessive thinking about what is happening on the Internet, they will often have fantasies or dreams about their system. The Internet addicts give up or reduce important family, social, occupational, or recreational activities in duration because of finding time for Internet use. In some advanced disorder cases the internet addicts will have the voluntary or involuntary typing movements of the fingers.
Slouching in front of computer for long hours may risk the body health also. The same posture of sitting and making small movements will strain spine and the ligaments in the wrist as well affect the body structure. Since an Internet addict is immobile and doing low energy work, his/her breathing will be shallow. This will result in stale air remaining in the lungs. This will affect the oxygen uptake efficiency from lungs into the blood resulting in reduced blood supply to brain and other organs. The crouching in front of the computer makes the Internet addict's gastro intestinal tract compressed and tense.
There are many treatments for the Internet addicts to come out of their habit. Most of the psychological clinics offer treatments for Internet addicts suffer from anxiety, depression, and lack of sleep, often due to long hours on online video games and chats. Treatments include Internet "cold turkey", counseling, physical activity, antidepressants, and enforcement of strict regular sleeping patterns. In addition to these professional treatments, you can also do smooth muscle movement and light exercises. Even breathing and a drive of lymphatic system can remove the waste from an internet addict's body.
If you are an internet addict spending hours on the computer, realize these hazards and try to get over you obsession for a better health.
