Dipika Kakar Battles Liver Cancer With Routine Infusions Every Three Weeks

Dipika Kakar was lying on a hospital bed, visibly tired but smiling, as the camera rolled. Beside her, husband Shoaib Ibrahim narrated the scene for the thousands of fans who have followed her health journey for over a year.

The actress, who has been undergoing treatment for stage 2 liver cancer, was back at the hospital for her scheduled infusion session. Only this time, Shoaib had a simple update for viewers: the treatment has now become a routine for them every 20 to 21 days.

A Day-Care Visit, Not An Overnight Stay

This particular hospital trip came with some relief. Unlike their previous visit, which had required an overnight admission, this session was completed as a day-care procedure, meaning Dipika and Shoaib could head straight home to their toddler son, Ruhaan, once it was done.

Shoaib did mention one small hiccup along the way. Dipika's iron levels had come in a little low, so doctors added an iron infusion through the IV alongside her scheduled treatment, extending the visit by roughly another hour and a half to two hours before discharge.

"Everything's Good, Just A Little Dizzy"

Dipika herself took a moment to speak directly to her fans, as she has done through most of this journey. She explained that she felt a little dizzy because of a pre-medication dose given ahead of the infusion, which is known to cause drowsiness, but insisted everything else was absolutely fine.

It's a pattern that's become familiar in the couple's updates - Dipika downplaying her discomfort, reassuring worried fans, and Shoaib filling in the practical details of what the treatment plan actually involves.

Three Weeks On, Three Weeks Off

Shoaib added that these hospital visits have now become a routine every 20 to 21 days, as they continue to follow the treatment plan recommended by her medical team. For a couple juggling a young child alongside a long-term treatment schedule, that rhythm - hospital, recovery, home, repeat - has effectively become their new normal.

Dipika's road to this point has included a long career, from her early days as an air hostess to years of television recognition through Sasural Simar Ka, a Bigg Boss win, and a more recent stint on Celebrity MasterChef that she had to step away from due to her health. Fans have stayed with her through each update, and this one drew the same wave of support that's followed her since she first revealed her diagnosis.
