If you are suffering from diabetes, exercise is an effective way to control blood sugar levels and weight. A diabetic patient has more chances of suffering from heart diseases. Exercise lowers the risk of heart attacks and cardiovascular diseases in diabetic patients. To treat diabetes, regular exercise is a must. Take a look at few exercises which can help control and treat diabetes naturally.

Exercises for diabetic patients:

1. Consult your doctor before you start. Most of the diabetic patients suffer from other health problems which is why, workout can be difficult for them.

2. Check your blood sugar levels before commencing. High levels can effect your health so consult your doctor to get suggestions.

3. Ideally, aerobic exercises are the best for diabetic patients. Walking, jogging and bicycling are easy and effective too.

4. Breathing exercises are also effective to treat diabetes. Deep breathing improves the heart functioning and increases blood flow in the body.

5. Try few cardio exercises as it increases the heart rate and controls blood sugar levels. Running is the best exercise to increase heart rate.

6. Always warm up the body before you start, and relax after done. Jog before to warm the leg muscles and increase heart rate slowly.

7. Before starting the exercises, it is advised to have little snacks such as sugar free biscuits and juice. Never exercise empty stomach.

8. Start slowly. Increase the intensity and duration gradually when you feel your body can take it. Ideally, beginners should start with 15 minutes jogging and then after 4-5 days, the duration should increase to 30 minutes.

Exercise treats diabetes but if the diabetic patient feel dizzy after the workout, check the blood sugar levels immediately. If you suffer from excessive sweating, palpitations, hunger and anxiety after exercising, consult your doctor. Keep a sugar free energy drink or juice during the workout session to stay hydrated.
