Plus Size Appreciation Day 2023: 10 Styling Tips For Curvy Women
Everybody is beautiful! No matter what your body type is, learn to love it, appreciate it, and be comfortable with it! October 6 is the official Plus Size Appreciation Day which is observed to showcase appreciation towards folks with those 'extra' curves! This special day is dedicated to yourself and others who challenge the traditional definition of beauty and understand the importance of 'body positivity'! Simply put, there is no measurement for beauty. It's something you feel from within!
If you are plus size and find it challenging enough to embrace your curves, then we have some easy-to-follow fashion tips that will boost your confidence and feel fabulous all the time.

Embrace Your Body
Begin by accepting and loving your body as it is! Be confident in your body shape and feel good in whatever outfit you choose. Embrace your curves and you will ace any style you pick for your everyday or occasional purposes!
Get The Perfect Fit
Well-fitted outfits can make a sea difference in how you perceive your body shape or curves. Ideally, avoid clothes that are either too tight or too loose. Select ensembles that hug your body well and not cling which often leads to discomfort. The outfit you pick should allow you to comfortably walk, sit, and go on about your duties and performances!
Invest In Shapewear
A good-quality shapewear will offer extra support and create a smooth silhouette for your outfit. It will also enhance the chosen ensemble and ultimately boost your confidence!
Opt For Flattering Fabrics
Pick fabrics that drape well and offer you the utmost comfort. Avoid clingy or stiff materials that will end up accentuating the problem areas i.e. belly fat or flabby arms. Instead, choose flowy fabrics like georgette, chiffon, jersey, cotton blends and linen that flatter all body types, including the plus size!
Highlight Your Assets
Draw attention to your favourite body features. For example, if you like your waist, accentuate it with a statement belt or cinched tops. Similarly, flaunt your shapely legs by wearing dresses or skirts that hit just above the knees!

Prefer Vertical Lines
Select outfits that have a vertical stripes print, patterns, or seams which creates an illusion of length and makes you appear slimmer and taller. You can pick pantsuits, tops, and skirts with vertical stripes for your formal wear or casual wear!
Play With Colours and Patterns
Shed the colour shyness and experiment with different colours and patterns. Wear bright and bold hues to add a hint of flamboyancy to your outlook. Wear small or medium prints to flatter your body shape. If you like to experiment with bold prints or patterns, then ensure to complete the look with minimal accessories!
Balance Your Proportions
If you have a larger bust or heavy shoulders, then balance your proportions by wearing tops with wider necklines, A-line dresses, or wide-leg pants. And if you are bottom heavy, choose tops with volume or wear statement accessories i.e. choker neckpiece or layered chains to draw the attention upwards!
Layer With Confidence
Layering is a wonderful way to accentuate the ensemble, especially the plain or minimal print ones. Plus, it can add a sense of depth and interest to your chosen outfit. For example, try layering a cardigan or jacket over a tee or top or add a scarf or a statement neckpiece to create a focal point!
Tailor Your Clothes
If you find a piece of clothing that you like but doesn't fit perfectly, consider getting it tailored. A good-tailored outfit can make a significant difference to how it looks and feels on your body!
Note that, styling is personal and the most crucial thing is to wear anything and everything that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Experiment with different looks and enjoy the process of experiencing your unique personality through your sartorial choices!
