Punjabi Style Rajma Recipe
There are many ways to prepare the authentic and delicious North-Indian, rajma. However, the best and traditional way to prepare rajma is always a sumptuous treat. The thick gravy pis prepared using the kidney beans and lots of spices are used to make it taste better.
Punjabi dishes are very popular worldwide. So, it is not a problem to try the traditional Punjabi style rajma masala. If you really wish to prepare the classic rajma masala, then try your hands in Punjabi style recipe. It is simple, quick and tastes yummy.
Punjabi Style Rajma Recipe:

Serves: 3
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 35-40 minutes
Ingredients
1. Red rajma- 1 cup (soaked overnight)
2. Onions- 2 (finely chopped or grounded into a paste)
3. Ginger and garlic paste- 1tsp
4. Tomatoes- 3 (pureed)
5. Red chilli powder- 1tsp
6. Coriander powder- 1tsp
7. Turmeric powder- 1tsp
8. Cumin seeds powder- 1tsp
9. Garam masala- 1tsp
10. Bay leaf- 1
11. Salt- as per taste
12. Oil- 1tbsp
Procedure
1. Pressure cook the rajma for a duration of 5-6 whistles.
2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan. Season with bay leaf.
3. Add onions, ginger and garlic paste and saute well on a medium flame till the onion turns golden brown in colour.
4. Sprinkle, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Mix well.
5. When the onion turns translucent, add the pureed tomatoes and mix well. Add salt and cook for another 2 minutes.
6. Add rajma along with a little broth. Cook till the gravy thickens. Once the rajma masala looks cooked and thick, put the pan off flame.
Garnish the Punjabi style rajma masala with coriander leaves and serve it hot. You can serve it with rice or with chapatis as well.
