This lady's finger recipe is not a khichdi in the North Indian sense. The North Indian khichdi is usually made out of rice and dal. But this is a lady's finger recipe that you must prepare like a vegetable curry. Both coconut and curd play a huge hole in defining the flavor of this dish.

Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
- Lady's finger or okra- 300 grams (chopped)
- Green chillies- 4
- Coconut- 1 cup (grated)
- Dry red chillies- 2
- Mustard seeds- 1tsp
- Curry leaves- 5
- Curd- 2tbsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Coconut oil- 2tbsp
Procedure
1. Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan. When it starts steaming add the chopped lady's finger pieces to it.
2. Stir fry till the pieces are crisp. This should take about 5 minutes in medium flame.
3. Meanwhile grind the green chillies and grated coconut into a fine paste.
4. Now in the same pan in which you fried the lady's fingers, heat the remaining oil.
5. Season the oil with mustard seeds, curry leaves and dry red chillies. Wait for the mustard seeds to pop.
6. Then add the grounded coconut and chilli paste in the pan. Stir fry for 5-6 minutes on low flame.
7. Now add 2 tablespoons of curd to it and mix well. The curd will contribute to making the gravy more watery.
8. You can add more curd if you want but here we have restricted to maintain a semi-dry consistency.
9. Add the fried lady's fingers to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes on low flame.
