Light & Healthy Ragi Upma Recipe
Ragi is one of the very few ingredients that only a handful of people enjoy. However, when it comes to eating healthy, there is no avoiding ragi. Upma is a common breakfast recipe that a lot of South Indians enjoy. The healthy filling breakfast ragi upma recipe is not at all time consuming. The best part of this recipe is the vegetables. Children who opt out of eating veggies, make their way through with this upma recipe.
On the other hand, this ragi upma recipe is so light on the tummy that it will not make you feel heavy at all. Due to this, ragi is well known among the old folk. To make the ragi upma recipe, you need to follow this easy instructions.

Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Raagi Flour - 2 cups
- Curds - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 2 (medium size)
- Green chillies - 6 or as per taste
- Salt - to taste.
- Urad Dal - 1 tsp
- Gram dal - 1 tsp
- Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Coconut grated - 1/2 cup
- Fresh Coriander leaves
Procedure
1. Start by first mixing the ragi flour, salt, sugar, and curds in a bowl . This part of the recipe is crucial as you should not make it like a paste. It should be of a wet powder . When done. Keep aside.
2. Now heat oil in a pan. Add in the mustard seeds and when it begins to splutter, add in the urad dal, gram dal, curry leaves.
3. When the dals become red in colour, add to the pan the sliced onions and sliced chillies. Fry these ingredients until the onions turn into a red colour.
4. Now add to the pan the mixed ragi powder and constantly keep stirring on a low flame.
5. When done, add the grated coconut and coriander leaves. Now mix well again.
6. Once it is over, switch the flame off and serve hot.
Your ragi upma recipe is now ready to eat. Add a little ghee over it, if you want to add richness and flavour.
