Bengal Fish Curry - Maacher Jhaal
Ingredients:
Fish: Rohu or some River Fish- 04 pieces.
Green Chillies: 05.
Black Mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp.
Oil- Mustard Oil: as per requirement.
Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp.
Salt: To taste.
Coriander Leaves- to garnish.
Method:
First wash the fish properly in running water.
Put some "Haldi" powder and salt on it.
Leave it for 5-10 mins.
Take a pan. Put some Mustard Oil for deep frying the fish pieces.
Keep the flame medium.
Fry the fish well till it turns brown.
Remove from pan and keep it aside.
Now make a fine paste of mustard seeds and 04 chillies. The paste should be very fine as the taste depends on how fine the paste is.
Now take some mustard oil- about 2 tsp.
Put one Green chilli till it pops. Now add the paste.
Keep frying for about 7 mins, adding 2 tsp.
Once the paste turns a bit brown, Add some water.
Add the fried fishes and simmer.
Boil for around 7-8 mins.
Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with boiled rice.
