Vidya Balan had ditched her favourite sarees altogether for some time. We saw her in a series of maxi gowns and silhouettes during the promotion of ‘Shaadi Ke Side Effects'. But finally we are happy to see Vidya Balan in a saree that is her signature style statement. Vidya Balan attended the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne press meet in a Payal Singhal saree.

VIDYA BALAN IN MAUVE SAREE FOR WOMEN'S SPECIAL

Most of her attempts to wear ‘different' clothes had failed miserably. However, Vidya Balan in a saree always manages to look elegant. And thus, this Payal Sighal creation is Vidya Balan's fashionable reprieve from gowns. We loved the dual coloured saree from Payal Sighal. The design of this silk saree was very simple; the body of the saree was plain grey in colour and it had a thick yellow border. Vidya Balan draped the saree with a pleated pallu for a very formal look.

What we did not like about this look was the black coloured blouse. First of all, the blouse was too simple for such a gorgeous saree. And then, the closed neck of the blouse made it look very ordinary. The glamour quotient to this look was lent by Vidya Balan's jewellery. She chose to wear gold jewellery with this traditional saree. Vidya Balan's jewels were from Jaipur Gems. We particularly liked the large gold earrings that suited Vidya's look perfectly.

We are glad that Vidya is finally getting back to what she does best, that is wearing sarees. Although we would like to see her experiment with different styles, sarees are her reason d'artre. Recently, we also saw Vidya in a mauve saree for a Women's Day special programme on television. Vidya rocked in this simple saree teamed up with silver jewellery. We hope to see more Vidya Balan in gorgeous sarees.
