New Saree Draping Styles You Can Try
Saree draping is an art. And like all art forms, the styles of draping a saree also evolves with time. The traditional 6 yards garment, a saree, has several styles and draping patterns. The traditional saree styles are the Gujarati front pallu, the Bengali drape, the Coorgi style or the nine yards Nauvari style. But apart from these saree styles, there are several new ways to drape this traditional garment.
The contemporary saree styles are mainly spotted on the ramp of fashion shows. Fashion designs come up with new saree blouse designs and draping styles to display their creations. The masters of this art are Manish Malhotra and Tarun Tahiliani who drape their designed sarees in extremely creative styles.
These saree styles are not restricted to the ramp. They are soon picked up by celebrities and normal women alike. You will see many people draping their sarees differently these days. This is because fashion designers have started experimenting with different and new saree draping styles that were never seen before.
Here are some of the most innovative styles to drape a fashionable saree.

Lehenga Style Saree
The lehenga style saree is designed in such a way that it is resembled a lehenga-choli. The saree is draped without pleats and the anchal is pleated like a dupatta.

Coiled Saree
Tarun Tahiliani has coiled the saree around the model like a snake. The model is not even wearing a blouse. The coiled saree covers her entire body.

Dupatta Saree
The entire saree has been wrapped over a skirt and blouse like a dupatta. The saree has no pleats at all. In fact the saree has been used as an accessory here.

Arm Length Saree
The pallu of the saree has been rolled around the arm of the model here. The saree has been draped with pleats like a normal saree.

Waistband Saree
This net saree has been draped with pleats in the usual way. What makes it special is the velvet waistband that has been tied to secure in the lehenga style.

Pant-Style Saree
This is an improvised way to wear a nauari saree. The chiffon saree has been wrapped in between the legs like a pant. But it also has a fluttering pallu.

Over The Neck
This saree has been worn in the common pleated styles. The pallu has also been pleated and draped around the neck. The waistband is then tied to secure the saree in this style.

Apsara Style Saree
The saree has been worn like a dhoti around the waist. The loose end of the saree is then draped around the chest to serve as a blouse. The sleeveless jacket adds a touch of elegance to this ancient apsara look.

Cowl Neck Saree
The saree has been draped conventionally. But the stole-like jacket worn over the saree gives an illusion of a cowl-necked saree style.

Skirt Style Saree
This saree has been pleated on the side instead of the middle. This unique draping style makes it look like a skirt with a lot of frills.

Saree Style Gown
The saree has been pleated conventionally, but there is no long trail of a pallu. The loose end of the saree is pinned to the shoulder instead to make it look like a gown.

Kamar-Bandh n Brooch
This saree is being made to look like a gown by wearing a sleek kamarbandh and a brooch to pin the pallu at the shoulder.

Blouse Over Saree
This saree has been draped conventionally. But there is one striking difference. The blouse is worn over the saree like a jacket.

Reverse Gujarati Style
Technically, in the Gujarati style, the pallu is draped over the right shoulder. But here, the pallu has been draped over the left shoulder making it the reversed Gujarati style saree.

Shawl Saree
The body of the saree has been pleated and draped normally. The pallu has been pleated and wrapped in a criss-cross way. This the is same way in which politicians wear their shawls.
