Day 6 Of IBFW 2013: Alia Bhatt Shines For AZVA

There was a special surprise package on IBFW 2013 Day 6 for us. And it was none other than the youngest of the Bollywood beauties, Alia Bhatt. Alia Bhatt was the show stopper for AZVA, which is a jewellery brand sponsored by World Gold Council. AZVA and the World Gold Council presented some really contemporary designs for Day 6 of IBFW 2013.

Alia Bhatt was a perfect choice because she is seen as the face of the modern India bride. Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2013 is all about bridal fashion today. And bridal fashion can hardly be complete without jewellery. With the changing times, jewellery designs too keep changing. Alia Bhatt and AZVA presented what today's bride conceives as 'bridal' jewellery.

Alia Bhatt was dressed in a golden sleeveless gown for her debut on the ramp. The gown was thigh-high slit. It also had a deeply scooped back. The cutout gown was also scooped on one side of the waist. Enthralled as we were by her gown, Alia Bhatt was actually showcasing jewellery so we might as well talk about it.

She wore a golden choker that had floral patterns on one side and beads on the other. There was a thick golden warrior bracelet on her wrist and her earrings very contemporary in style. She was wearing rounded dangling earring that were attached to her hair with a beaded golden chain. Her hair was tied up in a high pony. And so the young Alia Bhatt scorched the ramp on Day 6 of IBFW 2013.

The trend for this year is pretty clear. There is a definite thrust on gold jewellery. In the last few years, bridal fashion was dominated by diamond jewellery. But this year, gold is back with a bang. We got to see some very stylish and modern designs for the bride cast in gold.

Here are some of the glimpses of the AZVA collection for Day 6 of IBFW 2013.

Collar Necklace With Jhumkis

This thick and textured necklace looks like a dog collar. It has been teamed up with small but heavy jhumkis and a sleek matching bracelet.

Floral Necklace n Warrior Bracelet

The necklace has the traditional floral pattern, but the long earrings are very contemporary. The set comes with a thick warrior bracelet.

Backwards Necklace

The style of wearing necklaces backwards started with Oscars 2013 where both Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Lawrence started this trend. Gold necklaces too can look stylish on bare backs.

Necklace As Tiara

If you observe carefully, none of these headgears are actually tiaras. The designs are that of necklaces. But they have been worn as tiaras to adorn the head.

Rounded Necklace n Bracelet

This thick rounded necklace looks distinct on the modern bride. The bracelet is so roundish that it almost resembles a bangle.

Star Pattern

Traditional Indian bridal jewellery usually had floral or beaded patterns. But the star is a modern motif. This jewellery set has a star pattern.

Pyramid Pattern

The shape of the necklace is like a hollow pyramid; triangular. The jhumkas too imitate the shape of real pyramid. This kind of geometric gold jewellery is certainly contemporary.

The New Kamarbandhs

The golden belts or kamarbandhs are an ancient piece of jewellery. However, the style used here is very modern. The kamarbadhs are sleek and more like waistbands that can even be worn on gowns.

The Necklace Spread

There are two necklaces in this spread that covers the entire neckline and shoulders. The first is a heavy choker around the neck. The bigger necklace has been draped over the shoulders stylishly.

Arm Necklace

Again, it is not a 'bajubandh' or arm band we are talking about. A beaded necklace with a locket has been draped over the upper arms in a very elegant way.

The Bosom Necklace

The highlight of this look is the long necklace draped over the tube blouse. There is no traditional precedent for this kind of jewellery to adorn the bosom.

Antiques

This two necklace designs seem to have been re-invented from age old styles. The large golden beads and concentric circles were in fashion in the late 19th century. And they have come back in fashion from the past.

Rope Necklace

The texture of these two necklaces is like a rope. The central motif differs in both but this thick rope style is common. The rope necklace is also an ancient design that has been borrowed from the Greeks and Egyptians.

Collar Necklace With Locket

Usually a collar necklace is plain. But this thick and tapering collar necklace has a locket attached to it. The model is also wearing three different types of bangles in a 'mix and match' style.

Thick Mangtika

Usually a mangtika is sleek. But looks like, this season heavy mangtikas are going to be in fashion. The jagged and triangular mangtika is the heaviest piece of jewellery worn by the model.
