How To Darken The Colour Of Mehendi?
Applying henna or mehendi on your palms is a ritual that is widely practiced in India. Ii is considered an auspicious adornment for the bride. Most North Indian weddings have an entire function called mehendi where the bride, her cousins, and all the married women decorate their palms with henna or mehendi.
An ancient Indian believe says that the love of a husband is as deep as the colour of mehendi on a bride's palms. That is why, all Indian brides want the colour of mehendi on their palms to be really dark. Actually, there is a very simple scientific explanation for this phenomenon. The colour of mehendi darkens because of the body heat. That is why, some people can get naturally dark mehendi while others have faint outlines.

If you are not one of the fortunate ones to have naturally dark mehendi on your palms, don't worry as we are here to help you. The Indian wedding season had just started and we will give you some full proof tips to darken your bridal mehendi.
Soak Mehendi overnight: You can soak the mehendi leaves or powder over night in warm water. Actually, soaking the mehndi in black tea liquor have a darkening effect on its colour.
Add coffee power to mehendi: Coffee powder enhances the colour of henna or mehendi. When you soak mehendi powder for overnight, add a tablespoon of instant coffee powder to it. You can expect a coffee brown colour on your palms!
Lemon juice and sugar: Make a syrup of lemon juice and sugar. When the mehendi starts drying up on your palms, apply this lemon and sugar syrup. This ensures that when the mehendi dries up, it doesn't peel off from your palms.
Keep the mehendi for atleast 6 hours: The longer the mehendi stays on your palms, the darker it will get. But make sure you moisten it with the lemon and sugar syrup when it gets flaky.
Steaming Cloves: Roast some cloves on a dry pan. Hold your palms around 4 inches above the pan and allow them to absorb the smoke. This smoke heats up your palms and the colour of the mehendi darkens.
Pain Relief Balms: It is an old trick in the book to apply pain relief balms on your palms after decorating them with mehendi designs. This has the same logic behind it; pain relief balms generate heat under the skin and darken the mehendi.
