Now, sweaters have grown up to become a fashion statement in itself and new trends are being introduced. Here are the two top sweater trends for winter 2010-2011 -

1.Fisherman's Sweater – The fisherman's sweater is taking on a new look this winter, thanks to Marc Jacobs and Miuccia Prada. The Fisherman's sweater is basically a cable stitch sweater, which was used by Irish fisherman. Marc and Miuccia, have chosen the Fiserman's sweater as their tool to dress the fashion industry. The Fisherman's sweater is a pullover with the look of an hand knit sweater and is loosely knit. They are specifically designing it for the woman. It will be available in sky blue and opaque black colour.

According to Marc Jacobs and Miuccia Prada, the Fisherman's sweater trend will look best with jeggings or tights and high boots.

2.Sweater Dresses – Sweater dress is the hot trend this winter 2010-2011. This sweater trend is a long tight stretchable dresses, which is versatile in nature. It can be teamed up with leggings, skinny jeans, high boots and silhouettes. They look very stylish if worn with pulled up hair and slick accessories.

The sweater dresses are usually available in neutral colours like pink, beige, grey etc. The can also be worn with a belt around the waist. The New York Times reports, “This sweater trend, is no longer a boring basic straight out of your mother"s college yearbook, is swiftly racking up votes for the retail world"s Homecoming Queen."The versatile sweater dress can also be worn on formal occasions.
