Surprising Skin Care Benefits Of Ginger
Ginger is considered as one of the healthiest herbs in the plant family. It is loaded with nutrients such as vitamin B and C, fibre, zinc, and bioactive compounds such as polysaccharides, saponin, and many others.
Ginger found its place in Asian cooking thousands of years ago and overall well-being of a person is assured on consuming ginger. It is also used in many homes remedies to cure digestion, cough, and flu symptoms and these are very well known to all.
But did you know that ginger can be used topically to maintain a flawless skin as well? Yes, that's true! It can be used in all forms - fresh, powdered, juice, dried, and even as an oil.
Given are the possible ways in which ginger can be used on the skin.
For Anti-ageing Purposes
Around 40 antioxidant compounds are present in ginger that help prevent the signs of ageing. These compounds prevent free radical damage on the skin. It also improves elasticity and skin tone.
Take equal parts of grated or powdered ginger, honey and lemon juice. Whip them up twice a week and apply it on the skin. Leave it on for 30 minutes and rinse dry.
To Help Fade Acne And Blemishes
Imperfections on the skin can be corrected with the help of ginger. The antiseptic properties of it kills the bacteria not only on the surface of the skin but also deep inside the pores. The good news is that ginger can be used by people with delicate skin too without any side effects.
Simply dab some juice of ginger on the affected area and let it dry. Wash off with water later. Do this for a couple of days to see the results.
Helps Fight Cellulite
Ginger stimulates blood circulation, which can reduce cellulite. Use a lemon ginger body scrub to get rid of it. Mix up the zest of one lemon, 2 tablespoons of grated ginger, ½ a cup of sugar, and ¼th cup of olive oil. The mix can be refrigerated for up to a week. Scrub away the cellulite by using this 2 to 3 times a week.
Helps Remove Skin Tags
Skin tags are something that annoy anyone obsessed with beauty. Ginger is one of the natural ingredients that can clear skin tags. Chop some ginger and place it on a tag for 5 minutes. This must be done twice every day for a week. Overtime, the tags will shrink in size, revealing smooth skin.
Boosts Radiance
A glowing skin can be got by using ginger topically. Combine 1 tbsp of ginger juice, 2 tbsp of rose water, and ½ a tbsp of honey. Apply the mix evenly on the face, rest for 20 minutes and wash off.
Soothes Burns And Blisters
Blisters are a nasty sight to see, especially for young people and burns happen mostly by accidents. Both of these can be cured with some fresh ginger juice or a slice by using it for 2 to 3 times in a day. The skin gets back to its form within 6 to 12 weeks. When using on burnt skin, make sure to apply ginger only after the burn cools downs. It treats sun burns too.
To Treat Hypopigmental Scars
These are white scars that are lighter than the skin tone. Dab a slice of ginger onto the scar and let the juice dry. Do it 2 to 3 times a day. Have some patience and follow this religiously, as this might take a couple of weeks for the scars to fade.
Treats Inflammation
The anti-inflammatory properties of ginger do the work here. Mix a few drops of ginger oil with a teaspoon of olive oil. Massage it on to the skin to cure eczema and other similar conditions.
