Homemade Minty Aftershave For Men Who Like To Keep It Smooth!
Keep your skin bacteria free and smelling fresh, with this homemade aftershave recipe.
Think your shaving routine is over with a splash of cold water? Not really! If you want to avoid the aftermath of rough, and tight skin, then aftershave is a must, which is why we curated this homemade aftershave recipe.

What it does? Packed with astringent properties, this minty aftershave can make your freshly shaved skin germ free. It soothes & calms the irritated skin, reducing any skin bumps. And it closes open pores, keeping dirt out.
The best part about making an aftershave at home is that it is free from toxic chemicals, reflects your signature style, suits your skin type precisely, AND saves you tons of money!
Ingredients used in this DIY aftershave are rubbing alcohol, witch hazel, glycerin, aloe vera, and eucalyptus oil.
Astringent in rubbing alcohol closes pores. Witch hazel sterilizes any cuts. Glycerin moisturises the skin. Aloe vera soothes skin and eucalyptus oil leaves a lingering fresh smell.
Here is how you can make your aftershave at home!

Step 1:
Take half a cup of rubbing alcohol or vodka in a bowl. Alcohol contains roughly 70% to 80% ethanol in it, making it a super-effective astringent. However, when used excessively, it can also be harsh on the skin.

Step 2:
Add secondary astringent that is 1/4th cup of witch hazel. It works as a mollifying astringent, which dilutes some of the harsh effects of the alcohol. Plus, it contains tannin that will remove any redness.

Step 3:
Next, add 1 tablespoon of glycerin to the mixture. Glycerin is deeply emollient that will penetrate deep into the skin layers, hydrating it.

Step 4:
Cut the edge of an aloe vera leaf, slice it in half, scrape off its gel in a bowl, and add a tablespoon of it to the homemade aftershave recipe. Aloe vera will give a cooling effect to the skin, soothe any inflammation and make skin smooth.

Step 5:
Add 2 to 5 drops of eucalyptus oil to the mixture. It has antibacterial properties that will kill any lurking bacteria on the skin. Plus, its minty smell will keep you smelling fresh, all day long.

Step 6:
Mix all the ingredients together and transfer the solution in a tiny bottle. Shake it well before using. Store it in a cool and dry place.

Step 7:
Shave as usual. Take a few drops of the herbal aftershave in the palm of your hands. Dab it gently onto your freshly shaved skin. Let it get absorbed naturally.

Other Ingredients You Can Add
- You can also add a pinch of potassium alum to the mixture. It will get dissolved immediately. Plus, its styptic properties will staunch any bleeding, if you tend to get cuts often while shaving.
- Instead of eucalyptus oil, you can also add 2 drops of citrus oil. It will kill acne-causing bacteria and leave a musky smell behind.
- Other than that, you can also add a couple of drops of methanol oil, as it produces a cooling and tingling sensation and smell like the woods.

End Result
This herbal aftershave will keep your skin moisturised and irritation free. Use it immediately after shave. Slight tingling sensation is normal; however, if you feel an extreme burning sensation, rinse it off immediately.
