How To Retain Your Hair Colour From Fading
Colouring your hair is one of the best ways to get a new look. When you colour your hair, you give yourself a total makeover with a maximum impact. But, to ensure that your hair colour looks great and stays looking same, there are some natural ways to do so. Some may wonder how to retain hair colour naturally, let us tell you some of the ingredients which can be used in this aspect.
Colouring hair involves a lot of chemicals which is in some way unhealthy for your mane. Therefore, if you look after your hair with natural ingredients, your hair stays healthier for long. The first and most important key to a great hair colour is to make sure that your hair is in good condition. If you have healthy hair, the colour will take on and this will keep the colour looking vibrant for as long as possible.
It should be noted that too much of sun exposure and hard water is not good for your hair whether you have coloured your locks or not. The sun and hard water damages one's hair to a great extent and it is the sole cause of hair fall, dry hair and split ends. For coloured hair, exposure to the sun can cause the colour to fade drastically leaving it to look flat without depth and shine.
Here are some of the best natural ways to retain hair colour and not let it fade.
Coffee
One of the most natural ways to retain your hair colour is by using black coffee. All you have to do is brew a cup of coffee and when it is cool, pour it over your head and massage the roots. Leave it for about 15 minutes and then rinse with plain water.
Tea
The use of black tea is also one of the best and common remedies to retain hair colour. Black tea has a staining affect on the hair therefore helping to keep the hair colour from fading. One must rinse the hair with black tea diluted in water twice in a week.
Cocoa
The brown cocoa is a wonderful natural way to retain hair colour. The trick in using this method is with the help of a mild shampoo. All you have to do is mix the same proportion of cocoa to a same proportion of shampoo in the bottle. Shake the shampoo bottle well and wash your hair. Using this cocoa shampoo will help to retain hair colour naturally.
Sage
This natural herb can be used to darken your hair colour and retain it. Sage makes the hair look a few shades darker when this process is repeated once a week. Sage leaves are boiled in water and strained to use on hair while washing.
Oil
To maintain good and healthy hair one must oil their hair at least once in a week. Warm oil on coloured hair will help to retain the colour. Another hair care trick is to oil your hair two days before you apply the colour and oil the hair a day after you apply hair colour.
Eggs
The best natural ingredient to retain hair colour is, egg white. Applying an egg hair pack once in a month will do wonders in helping the colour stay longer.
Mustard Seed Oil
The use of mustard seed oil helps to retain hair colour naturally. It is a must try if other remedies have not worked for you. All you have to do is massage your head with mustard seed oil once a week and rinse the following morning. This procedure if followed for a month will bring about good results.
Water
To naturally maintain your hair colour, one should not use hot water to wash the hair. It is important not to wash your hair with hard water as it reacts with the chemicals of the colour thus leading to hair fall and rough hair.
Sun
After applying hair colour, it is very important to take good after care. Avoid direct sun on your coloured hair. Covering your head when you step out into the sun is a must if you do not want your hair colour to fade.
Walnuts
To retain your hair colour and prevent it from fading, make use of black walnuts. Boil a handful of peeled walnuts in water and when the water is of warm temperature, use it to rinse your hair. After 30 minutes wash your hair with plain water. This method of using walnuts to retain hair colour naturally should be practiced once in two weeks.
