Reduce Body Odour After Pregnancy

Pregnancy and labour will leave many changes in your lifestyle and body. While many of these changes are exciting and enjoyable, some others will make you anxious and desperate. A change in the body odour after pregnancy is one among them. You may find it awkward and ill at many occasions, but body odour during and after pregnancy is quite normal as long as you are healthy.

A change in your body odour may be due to many reasons. Hormones play an important role in this change during lactation by causing a pungent odour mainly from the genitals and armpits. Another reason behind body odour after pregnancy is increased sweating. During lactation, your metabolism will increase which will raise the temperature of your body resulting in excessive sweating. Here are some easy remedies for your body odour after pregnancy.

Reduce Body Odour After Pregnancy

Keep yourself clean: Showering every day is very important to keep your body odour away. Since you will be busy with your baby, you have to schedule it according to your convenience. But, do not skip it. Avoiding tight fitting clothes will help a lot for keeping yourself free from sweat. Wash your clothes after wearing it once.

Use lemon: Use water with some drops of lemon juice added in it. This will help you to overcome body odour after pregnancy. You can give a final rinse after bath with this water.

Use apple cider vinegar: Rinsing your body with apple cider vinegar will help to reduce the pH of the skin. This will reduce your body odour which persists after pregnancy.

Use homemade deodorant: You can prepare a homemade deodorant by mixing about two dozen radishes and ¼ teaspoon of glycerin. Use this liquid after pouring into a spray bottle. Do not forget to keep it in the fridge. You may use tea tree oil as a natural deodorant. It will help to reduce your body odour after pregnancy as it is an antibacterial herb. Mix two drops of tea tree essential oil to one part water. Pour it into a spray bottle and use.

Add mint water in bath: Mint leaves are excellent in managing body odour. Boil some mint leaves and add this water to the water bath. Do this regularly.

Honey: Add a teaspoon of honey in water. Use this for your final rinse. This will not only make your skin smooth and moisturised, but also help reduce after pregnancy body odour to a great extent.

Watch your diet: Avoid foods that may result in unpleasant body odour, while nourishing yourself with nutrient food for you and your baby. Garlic, cumin, alcohol, caffeine, large quantities of meat and too little fiber can contribute to body odour and should be avoided.
