Mint Paneer Pulao: Easy Rice Recipe

Adding flavour to rice is an easy way to add variety to your menu. The South-Indian rice recipes are the best examples of flavoured and delicious rice dishes. There are so many dishes such as the lemon rice, tamarind rice, brinjal rice etc. Have you ever heard of mint-flavoured rice? If the answer is no, then here is a mouthwatering recipe to prepare mint paneer pulao.

You do not need a lot of ingredients for this simple and fragrant rice recipe. As the name suggests, mint paneer pulao mainly requires fresh mint, paneer and basmati rice. If you do not have basmati, any long grain rice cab be used. The rice is first cooked and then it is stir-fried with freshly grounded mint which lends a soothing aroma and flavour to the rice.

Mint Paneer Pulao: Easy Rice Recipe

So, try this delicious and aromatic vegetarian mint paneer pulao. This rice recipe is simply irresistible.

Serves: 3-4

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Basmati rice- 2 cups
  • Paneer- 200gms (cut into small cubes)
  • Fresh mint leaves- 1 bunch
  • Onion- 2 (chopped)
  • Green chillies- 4
  • Ginger- 1 inch piece
  • Garlic- 4 cloves
  • Cloves- 5
  • Cinnamon- a stick
  • Salt- as per taste
  • Oil- 2tbsp
  • Water- 4 cups

Procedure

  1. Clean and wash the rice thoroughly.
  2. Drain the water and cook the rice with 4 cups of water in a vessel for about 10 minutes.
  3. Once done, remove from flame. Drain the excess water from the rice and keep the cooked rice aside.
  4. Fry the paneer cubes in one tablespoon of oil for 2-3 minutes. Remove from flame and keep it aside.
  5. Clean and wash the mint leaves. Grind the mint leaves, chillies, ginger and garlic into a smooth paste.
  6. Now heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon and cloves. Fry for about a minute.
  7. Add chopped onions and fry for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame till they turn translucent.
  8. Now add the mint paste, salt and cook for another 2 minutes.
  9. Add the cooked rice and fried paneer cubes to it and stir fry for 2-3 minutes more.
  10. Once done, remove from flame.

Mint Paneer Pulao is ready to be served. Enjoy this delicious vegetarian recipe with raita.
